The Future of Sustainable Cosmetic Ingredients

Beyond Traditional Sourcing

VS

We produce boldine — a high-value natural antioxidant derived from Peumus boldus — using advanced plant biotechnology, enabling a reliable, scalable, and sustainable supply for the future.

Why does this matter?

Why is this relevant for the cosmetics industry?

Many bioactive ingredients rely on native plant species that are increasingly under ecological pressure due to overharvesting and ecosystem degradation.
In Chile, sclerophyllous forests—home to Peumus boldus—are considered at risk due to sustained human impact.

Why boldine?

Boldine, the main alkaloid of Peumus boldus, is a well-documented bioactive compound with strong antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and cytoprotective properties.
Recent studies also highlight its potential for tyrosinase inhibition, making it highly relevant for skin-related applications.

What is the limitation of traditional sourcing?

Plant-derived compounds exhibit significant natural variability. In Peumus boldus, more than 17 alkaloids have been identified, with concentrations that vary widely depending on plant tissue and environmental conditions.
This leads to inconsistent quality, lack of standardization, and unstable supply chains.

Why is our approach different?

Our platform enables boldine production using plant stem cell–derived cultures, allowing full control over growth conditions and metabolite production.
This ensures batch-to-batch consistency, full traceability, and independence from environmental variability.

Why does this matter for sustainability?

By decoupling production from wild harvesting, our approach reduces pressure on native ecosystems and enables a more responsible and scalable way to source bioactive ingredients.
